New publication - Local Government and Obesity Prevention

This new publication explores the potential role of Australian local governments in creating environments for healthy nutrition and increased physical activity. Published in Australia and New Zealand Health Policy, the study used semi-structured interviews to explore the views of local government representatives. The study found that the factors most likely to facilitate policy change were those supported by external funding, developed from an evidence base and sensitive to community and market forces.
