CO-OPS 2010 National Workshop a great success!
More than 130 delegates attended the Collaboration of Community-based Obesity Prevention Sites (CO-OPS Collaboration) 2010 National Workshop.
This year's workshop was held on 20-21 October and coincided with the Australia and New Zealand Obesity Society annual conference, also held in Sydney.
The workshop attracted participants from every state and territory in Australia, and booked out more than two months in advance.
Participants enjoyed more than 50 sessions on community-based obesity prevention issues such as ethics, monitoring and evaluation, working with local government, and working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD), Low Socio-Economic Status (SES) and indigenous communities. More than 95 per cent of participants polled rated the quality of presentations as good or very good.
CO-OPS Collaboration Director, Steve Allender, believed the real value of the workshop was in the networks established between members.
"Within a week of the National Workshop we know CO-OPS members are working with those who couldn't attend to share resources, plan projects together and progress best practice in community intervention".
